Have you always wondered about Voyageur’s National Park, Are you a lover of the autumn breezes & the falling leaves?  This is a PERFECT opportunity for you to come up & join us for a weekend of relaxation.  (We are about 4 hours north of the Twin Cities area and it’s a REALLY EASY Drive).  This retreat will be a low key, relaxed weekend.  We welcome you to join us for as many activities or as few as you would like.  We just ask that you stay a minimum of 2 nights at the resort.  The weekend is open to both men & women.  There are discounts available.  Please note that all treatments will need to be paid for separately at the time of service to the practitioner.  Sessions will be going on throughout the weekend.  There will be sign up sheets in the lodge for therapies; these sheets will be available throughout the weekend.

Thursday September 25, 2008:  12:00 p.m. or later Check in - Get settled in & get oriented with the resort & prepare for a weekend of fun & relaxation

5-6 p.m. Evening Pontoon Cruise – great way to see the lake & the area of Voyageur’s National Park (Weather permitting)

8-9 p.m. Yoga Nidra (Heather); cost is $5 per person; Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice of deep relaxation.  This practice is beneficial for pain management, stress reduction and deep reflection.  Also known as “Yoga Sleep” this practice will begin with some slow gentle movements to unwind the body & will progress to breathing exercises to center the mind.  The majority of the class will consist of deep guided relaxation in which participants’ minds are walked through a systematic set of mental exercises, sequenced to stimulate specific parts of the brain to bring a state of deep relaxation.  A great way to end the day!  This is an all levels class & beginners are welcome.

*Private yoga sessions will be available by Heather throughout the weekend at an additional fee.

 

Friday September 26, 2008:  Healers will get started on therapies on Friday.  There will be introduction talks about the various sessions on Saturday, if you have questions about what something is, we are willing to explain the therapies throughout the weekend.

7-8 a.m. Rise & Shine Yoga (Heather); Cost is $5 per person; Wake up your body & mind in this morning Hatha Yoga session.  The class includes pranayama (breathing exercises), an asana sequence & relaxation.  It is a flow class designed to integrate breath & movement to bring greater awareness & center the mind as well as improve circulation, strength & flexibility.  This class is best practiced on an empty stomach and is an all levels class; beginners are welcome. 

Ear Candling (Shirley); Cost is $6

Foot Bath (Shirley); cost $15/per session; IonCleanse Foot Bath detoxify your body safely & quickly.  We are all exposed to the greatest toxic load in the history of our planet.  With the IonCleanse footbath, ionized water molecules travel through the body, picking up toxins along the way.  The particles are pulled out of the pores of the feet through the process of osmosis.

Massage Therapy (Nancy Lindstrom); Sessions start at $20 for ½ hour massage & $35 for hour massage; Nancy is a certified massage therapist with over 6 years of experience.  She is a cancer survivor who’s life experience has brought her to her practice of “re-membering” our bodies through Swedish & deep tissue massage.  In our hurried, stress filled days we often become detached from that which is so very sacred, the gift of our bodies.  Her hope is to provide a safe, respectful environment for her clients to honor, heal & reconnect with their mind, body & spirit.  She will be available throughout the weekend, by appointment.  Please ask for the sign up sheet upon your arrival at the resort.  She will respectfully ask that you arrive 15 minutes early for your treatment so you will have a chance to fill out a short information form, settle in to the new environment & get the full benefit of your “re-membering” experience. 

Muscle Testing/Kinesiology (Shirley Earley) no charge; Learn how to communicate with your body using a process called muscle testing. 

1:00-4:00 p.m. Plants & Paddling Eco Tour (Gigi Stafne); Cost is $60 per person; Would you like to paddle along wetland shores of a pristine northern Minnesota lake learning how to kayak while identifying native medicinal plants?  Join Master Herbalist & kayak instructor, Gigi Stafne, for this guided trip that includes identification of native & medicinal plants.  Tour is suitable for beginners & others… lots of shoreline kayaking… no white water paddling on this trip!  Paddle at your own pace.  Definitely a must for lovers of plants & paddlin’!  The instructor is Gigi Stafne, Master Herbalist, Plant & Paddling Diva (please note that if the weather is bad this session may be switched for the session on Saturday)

Evening activities:  Sauna Talk & Sauna Sweat, Bon Fire

Saturday September 27, 2008:  Introduction talks will take place in the morning on Saturday & Session work will continue throughout the day

7:00-8:00 a.m. Rise & Shine Yoga (Heather); Cost is $5 per person

8:00-9:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast in the Aurora Rooma simple continental breakfast will be offered at no charge for guests of the resort

9:30-10:00 a.m. Intro to Chakra/Reiki with Drumming (Sue) Session work throughout the weekend

10:00 –10:30 a.m. Intro to Massage Therapy (Nancy) Session work throughout the weekend

10:30-11:00 a.m. Intro to Healing with Energy Frequencies (Shirley) introduction talk is no charge – Session work with Shirley cost $25 for a 40 minute session; Come & experience the EPFX/SCIO which are high tech health devices that assist health practitioners to find energetic imbalances and health issues.  It is a diagnostic & healing device that has the power & scope to scan your entire body in just 5 minutes….Mind, Body & Emotions!  Vitamin levels, amino acids, nutrients, food substances, minerals, enzymes, natural sugars, toxins, hormone levels, muscle tone, disease, bacterial molds, fungi, viruses & the health/balance of internal organs & much more.  Shirley is a Certified Biofeedback Technician balancing the stress in and around your body.    **Please bring your supplements & find out if they are compatible with your body. 

1:00-4:00 p.m. Herbal Healing for the Home (Gigi); cost is $25 per person – Get your body humming with just the right herbs & botanicals!  Herbalism is growing in popularity… and this session will help you identify the Top Ten herbs that you may want to consider for your Home Natural Medicine Cabinet.  A Master Herbalist will discuss herbal actions, applications & precautions with each.  Blend your own herbal tea mixes to take home with you!

Evening activities:  Drumming circle, sauna

Sunday September 28, 2008

Session Work will continue throughout the day from any of the above therapies

7:00-8:00 a.m. Rise & Shine Yoga – with Heather; Cost is $5 per person

8:00-9:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast in the Aurora Rooma simple continental breakfast will be offered at no charge for guests of the resort

11:00-12:00 p.m. Aromatherapy – With Heidi cost $5; choose your favorite oil and take home a blended cream.  Learn about the history & healing aspects of various oils and try your hand at creating your own potion.

1:00-4:00 p.m. Earth Medicines:  Tales Along the Medicine Trail Plant Identification Walk – With Gigi Stafne; Cost is $60 The Northwood’s trail opens up a plethora of plants…from medicinal to wild edibles.  Learn with a Master Herbalist how to ID various plants along the winding trail, discovering historical & cultural uses.  Earth Healing, plant preservation & eco ethics will be woven through this Medicine Walk!  Your instructor is the recipient of the 2007 North American Plant Conservation Award… and she will share with you some of her personal insights about our Green Allies & our relationship with them into the future.    

2:00-3:00 p.m. Organics (Barbie)

 Evening activities: Group meditation, Sauna sweat

Monday September 29, 2008: 

7:00-8:00 a.m. Rise & Shine Yoga – with Heather; Cost is $5 per person

12:00 p.m. Check out – or stay an extra day or two & enjoy all the north woods has to offer or just take an additional day to relax before heading back into the “real” world!

$60/night per persons for Dorm Style lodging(shared bedroom, shared cabin-females in one cabin & males in another)

$80/night per person for a private bedroom in a shared cabin

$120/night per couple for a private bedroom with a full/queen or king bed in a shared cabin.

2 night minimum stay is required and the price includes a continental breakfast on Saturday & Sunday.    

Guests should bring their own food, kitchen & bath towels.  Also bring a recipe for healthy eating or a fruit smoothie recipe to share with others.
